Midwest Classified Network Guidelines

All advertisements offered for publication in MCN are subject to acceptance by Midwest Free Community Papers (MFCP), dba Midwest Classified Network (MCN). Questionable, misleading, controversial, or fraudulent statements are declined. MCN reserves the right to not approve any advertising copy, which in its sole judgment may be deemed objectionable and undesirable. Furthermore, MCN reserves the right to revise or reject any advertising copy at its own discretion for any reason whatsoever. The MFCP Board of Directors realizes many legitimate businesses fall within these guidelines. For their protection, and ours, we require complete information and disclosure of the company or services being offered.

Basic Classified Guidelines:

Ads must be submitted by the deadline (noon central time on Wednesdays for the following week).
Ads will be text only (no bold or italic font, special line formatting, images or boxes around the ad).

Classified Ad Content Guidelines:

Any political or personal opinion/religious ads must have the name and address of the person or group printing the ad. The ad must be verified for authenticity by Midwest Free Community Papers.
All ads submitted to Midwest Free Community Papers must be accompanied by the name, address, and phone number of the person/persons submitting the ad. If the person is submitting an ad for a business or organization, then the same information is required for the business or organization.

The Midwest Classified Network will consider the following types of ads on a case by case basis:

That advertises an adoption (letter from attorney handling adoption required).
That advertises adoption services or organizations.
That requires or encourages sending money through the mail.
That advertises Work-at-Home opportunities, like stuffing envelopes or data entry.
That advertises employment out of the country.
That advertises credit cards, personal loans, credit repair or mortgages. (click for more information)
That advertises drugs, medications or creams, including weight loss pills.
That advertises for sale U.S. government surplus equipment, foreclosed houses, or government auctions by sending money for a publication that will direct a consumer to these services.
That does not specify employment opportunities.

The Midwest Classified Network will not accpet the following types of ads:

That advertises for palm readers, psychics or hypnotists.
That advertises chain letters.
That advertises massage parlors or escort services.
That advertises 23 channel C.B.'s (which are against federal law).
That advertises used mattresses or bedding (against federal law).
That are sexual, obscene, or pornographic in nature.
That advertises 900 numbers without the cost per minute and minimum charge listed.
That advertises for cigarettes, beer or liquior.
That advertises chat lines or dating services
That advertises credit cards, personal loans or mortgages that include practices that are against federal and/or state laws.
